Engraved on His Hands

The other day, somebody noticed that I had something written on my hand as a reminder and she commented, "That makes me think of how God has us written on his hands."

True ... except I have it on my hand in ink, which washes away in about a day and I forget to do the thing anyway. Praise God that our names are engraved on the palms of his hands (with nails), that he will not forget us and is ever mindful of even the most minute details of our lives.

"Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me." (Isa 49:15-16)

I love that verse. Spurgeon points out that it is not merely our "names" he has on his hands, it's "you", "us", our very lives and being. Very comforting. Dan
