No Fault-Finding Here

I was struck this morning by a statement our Sunday School teacher made about James 1:5:
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
In reference to our constant need to come to our Savior for forgiveness and help in changing, our SS teacher encouraged us, "No matter why you've come to him, he will not find fault."

I'd never thought of this verse a) as a counseling verse (but more as a 'head knowledge' verse), or b) in reference to that middle phrase, "He gives generously to all without finding fault." The ESV says, "without reproach."

Christ already took the reproach. I can come to God for help when I'm stuck without embarrassment and in full confidence that he will joyfully give me the wisdom that I seek.

What a comfort, and what an encouragement!
