I have a new phrase that I won't permit myself to say: "I can't handle this!"
I've caught myself saying it twice in the last two days, and both times I immediately realized how silly it was. And so, doing a little bit of self-counseling, I realized that to say this about these situations was just laziness. It's not that I can't handle it; I don't want to. The fact is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." God's grace is sufficient to bring me through any situation, no matter how frustrating or helpless it might feel.
What's more, God's not asking me to handle it. My plans all happen to be in his (very capable) hands. So, as I was driving in my car (both times*), I had to submit my frustrations and helplessness to God. I don't know how it will turn out. But I know that He'll handle it for me.
* I do some of my best thinking in the car; however, I have to be careful I'm not sitting at a stoplight talking to myself outloud!
