I think I want to start a meme. Summer is a time when I feel an especial joie de vivre, so this meme is in honor of celebrating and loving life.

If you could pick one photo that epitomizes joie de vivre, or quote one short piece of prose or poetry, or write one, what would it be?

Don't think about it long and hard, just do the first thing that comes to mind. I've got two, and I'm gonna post them both because I'm making the rules. The photo's above, the poem is below.

In the meantime, I tag Andrea, Melodee, the Cryders, the Sutherlands, Anne, Liz, Mel, Hannah, TBR, T.L., Beth, Denise and Laura. If you send me a link, I'd love to post your contributions on BCG. OR, if you don't have a blog (you know who you are) and you still want to play, send me your contribution and I'll post it for you here. Please play with me!!!

And now, without further ado, my poem (borrowed from ee cummings)

i thank You God for most this amazing
day:for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky;and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes
(i who have died am alive again today,
and this is the sun's birthday;this is the birth
day of life and love and wings:and of the gay
great happening illimitably earth)
how should tasting touching hearing seeing
breathing any--lifted from the no
of all nothing--human merely being
doubt unimaginable You?
(now the ears of my ears awake and
now the eyes of my eyes are opened)

Hmmm, I would never have pegged you as an ee cummings fan.

Thanks, Melodee and Mel!

Master Aegidius: yup, I AM an ee cummings fan, even though his poems are sometimes a bit cryptic. This is my favorite poem by him, followed closely by "Maggie and Milly and Molly and May / went down to the beach to play one day..."
