a few bad experiences...

... with a particular company, and I'm a committed non-customer for life. I've got about a half-dozen companies that I refuse to patronize because of bad experiences there. This is true of a certain video store in Billings (Movie Gallery, for those of you who are wondering); before Netflix, I would actually drive past 2 or 3 of these stores to rent a movie at Blockbuster or Hastings.

This is also now essentially true of Amazon. Granted, their prices are a little bit cheaper (like $.80 to $2.00 on most things I've looked at), but I just went to order a book for work, and it wasn't going to ship (w/ their free shipping) until January 21. Are you kidding me? And don't even ask me about my "Christmas" order last year ... I ordered a dozen books in early December and received them in early January.

So, I just placed that order through Barnes & Noble. The total was about $1 more than it would have been through Amazon, but it's shipping tomorrow, and the free shipping is expedited. Maybe I'll re-start my membership so I can get the B&N discount.

Hmm...sort of like me paying just a wee bit more and shopping at a store that's not Wal-Mart.

No, not at all :D

My bias is usually customer service-related. And I always have friendly people greeting me and friendly clerks at WalMart ... AND I save $$$.

Never use Bally's Gyms. Those folks tried to commit me to paying a few THOUSAND for a year's membership. They are very crafty with their "deals". grrrr!

Clearly, you've SOLD YOUR SOUL to continue shopping at Walmart. My hypocrisy knows no bounds though, because I am a Target junkie. I just love it so much!
