Many Hands Make Light Work

A few random thoughts...
  • I'm going to cancel my home and car insurance today because HH and I decided to go with another company. It's funny, though, (I think) to call and ask someone to de-insure you. So UnAmerican!
  • I LOVE having someone else taking charge of all my "life logistics." It's one of the areas of life that stresses me out the most (as evidenced by the PILES of paperwork that HH has been sorting filing since moving in). But some of the new "changeover stuff" (new driver's license, credit cards, banks, insurance) have been remarkably painless with HH at my side, contrary to my expectations.
  • I have almost a full box of business cards with my old last name on them. Not much else I can do with them, so I'm using them as non-sticky-sticky notes, for those occasions when I need to write little notes, but I don't need them to stick. Any other suggestions?
  • I've decided that I'd like to use the crock pot at least once per week, since I'm now needing to get into the habit of feeding myself and someone else every night (twice a day, sort of, because we both pack our lunch, too). Today I'm trying out a recipe for a pork roast that has as the sauce red wine, soy sauce, dried onion soup, water, garlic and pepper. And, since I didn't have QUITE enough red wine in the bottle (because I'd been drinking it), I added a little bit of coffee to the sauce... I figured "dark, robust, acidic drink, it'll do." I hope it's good!
  • HH and I both really like Arby's Jamocha shakes. We split one this afternoon. I've never really been able to enjoy finishing a shake, so this system is perfect: we buy it, I drink about 1/4 and pass it on to him.

Have you heard of the "A Year of CrockPotting" blog? http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ This woman makes EVERYTHING in the crockpot.

I haven't personally tried any of the recipes because, well...I don't have a crockpot. (That's something that needs to be addressed soon.) But I know Andrea (Howe) Houghtelling has and so has my mom.

I have heard of it -- I think it was thru Tara, thru Amy L :) I don't think she had an RSS feed, though, so I haven't been back much.

A few years ago for Christmas, my brother gave me a few Williams & Sonoma crock pot cookbooks, so that's my main launching point. This recipe, though, came from the good ole' Internet. And I dare say it's going to be a keeper. Even our garage smelled good when we got home!

Hey Molly,

I think I know that pork recipe well...is it Amazing Pork Tenderloin from allrecipes? I use that recipe frequently, and we love it.

I also have a recipe for beef roast on the stove that includes coffee...yum!

Hey Beth,

That's EXACTLY the recipe! We loved it, too. I doubled the amount of cooking liquids and froze some for french dips, and I also simmered some green beans and zucchini in the liquid. It gave the veggies a great flavor!

How funny that you use the same one... then again, it's almost the #1 link when you google 'pork tenderloin crock pot'.

You and HH were made for each other. I'm so glad someone else can whip your rear into shape when it comes to paperwork!

I was going to mention A Year of Crockpotting, but I see that my daughter(s) beat me to it.! I get it on my Google Reader and glance at it every day. I've only made a couple things, though. I like the fact she takes a picture of all the ingredients and gives an honest verdict.
